Not too long ago, the U.S. Army launched an M4/M16 Product Improvement Program (PIP) that resulted in several companies creating enhancements for the storied AR platform.

LWRCI International’s efforts included designing an enhanced direct-impingement bolt carrier, new flip-up sights and a spiral-fluted barrel that cools quickly while reducing weight. Now LWRCI has put all of those improvements into its first direct-impingement rifle, the IC-DI.
Like LWRCI’s piston-driven Individual Carbine (IC) rifles, the IC-DI features a Monoforge upper receiver with a free-floating handguard and a matched lower receiver with fully ambidextrous controls, including the bolt release, magazine release and safety.
The IC-DI comes with a 16-inch, spiral-fluted barrel that helps shave 20-percent of the weight in a standard barrel as well as LWRCI’s new handguard rail covers and Angled Foregrip. This grip offers an ambidextrous QD sling mount while it’s ergonomically shaped and textured to support a number of modern shooting styles/grips.
